Pros: easy, less mess
Jiffy Pellets Are So Easy

For the past 8 years I've been starting my seeds with Jiffy Pellets instead of a seed starting mix in containers and they work great.  I haven't had any problems with dampening off.  Nothing but healthy little seedlings to set out in the spring.
