I've had at least (4) Euonymus plant that have been devastated by scale.

One of these was Emerald gaiety.

An attractive plant, but seemingly defenseless against scale.

Ultimately, I had to trash it.

i do like this shrub.  it always looks nice and is 'trainable'.  they also root very easily from cuttings, which is always a good thing.  however, be on the lookout for scale which can  be a problem since these are susceptible scale is easy to control.  i also like the pink in the margins as the weather gets colder.

Placed this plant to accent some darker colored azaleas. It's filled out nicely and is farily hardy in terms of temp and trampling (on the corner of the sidewalk and kids love shortcuts). Mine has been a slow grower though, has only grown about 10% in the last  year or so.
