| I guess I've mentioned and others have mentioned the tendency of some plants that are growing in containers to shed the flower buds if the plants are moved or even turned around in the same spot. Since my Adenium or desert rose is leaning badly more and more almost to the point where the flower buds will soon be touching the cold window , I wonder if I dare turn the plant. I've mentioned that hoyas are infamous for dropping the buds if the pots are turned , but I don't know about the Desert Rose. I also don't want the plant to lean too much over time if the pot isn't rotated from time to time. BTW, the buds are still growing and starting to show some color. Looks like they may have dark red flowers, but those bud colors often look darker than the fully opened and mature flowers. BTW, I was going to include a macro shot, but it's too bright to get a picture there now. Won't work!! |

| MrSeedy, This is just a guess but can you do a 1/4 turn. Make it think the sun is moving.
I turn my plants little bit by little bit. I do not do a full turn on any plants. |

| MrS, I agree with Audwoman, 1/4 turns will not hurt it and will be better than letting it touch the window and cause damage to the growth tip and flowers. I have never had ours drop buds cause I've turned there pot to get a better shot of a flower and not turn it back to where it was. As long as you don't repot it while it is budding and flowering they will stay on no matter how many times you twirl it around, it might get dizzy but it will hang on to the buds! |
