Freeze left few poppies

The 1,800-acre Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve opens for the season this weekend with few of the bright orange flowers in bloom.
A January freeze killed the usual crop of sprouts this year, but some of the hardier ones are expected to give the Mojave Desert a late season show.
