I looked out of my window this morning and found this kingfisher in the garden sitting on a frosted EE.

Sorry about the quality of the photo, it was raining and I took it through the window with a lot of zoom.

Rich that looks very much like one our local species of kingfisher, though I"ve only ever seen one once, even though they're considered "common" birds here. I'll have to check and see it you have the same species?? They surely are pretty though and great fisher "men"?

No I guess not , and ours is a different though colorful species and we have another as well!!

I just found the most wonderful site for various birds and some very colorful ones. Now if I could just add the link?? Anyway it's titled "Kingfishers of the World" on Google.

Thanks for adding it boo, as it seems even after all this time of posting I still don't know how to add the links. I really am someone who, could spend hours just looking at all the beautiful pictures of flower, birds, and animals on teh net, and especially in the gloom of winter.

I have to say that site has to be the most amazing site I've ever found on birds on the net. and when you see the diversity and the beautiful colors of all those amazing birds it's akin to a religious experinece. I even managed to find a species of gull I'd seen many times in Southern California , when I lived there , and I've never found the picture in any of my bird books. It's one of the few gulls that has a bright red bill!!!
