I have decided to overhaul my greenhouse roof. I now have fiberglass panels that were semi clear at one tme but are now yellowed. They still allow light transmission but don't look nice appearance wise. I saw some Polycarbonate double wall panels that cost about 80.00 dollars apiece. Has anyone seen these? Or have them on a greenhouse? The panels are 12' by 48 inches so I would need 4 of them to do the job. With shipping it would be about 300.00 dollars. Not bad for the size of my greenhouse. It would add insulating value as they have an air space. I'm not sure whether to go with the 6mm or the 8mm thickness.

i don't know about the panels dony. i would guess the thicker the better insulation. as for the roof i don't see why your panels won't work.
mine is made of leftover greenhouse poly from work. but if it has enough light i am sure it would work out fine. will you have a fan in it?

let us know what you decide.

My greenhouse is glass, but my garden shed had that corregated panels for the roof. They are a smokey colour and are cooler than the clear ones. They're supposed to have a very long warranty. I really like the look, too!

What are you gonna do with the old yellow ones? I may be able to use them here in the desert... ugly or not it may help diffuse those potent super UV sun rays I get here. If you haven't ditched them yet maybe we could talk about making some sort of deal/trade.

Cheers!

That would be great soilman but I would think shipping would prohibitive as they would have to be boxed and shipped by truck. That's why the new panels are so expensive. The shipping is a killer.

It may still be worth it for me. I have things shipped all the time. It might not be as much trouble for me as you might think... how big would the boxes be?

The panels are 12 feet long and 2 feet wide so I don't think they'll ship well soilman. You can get them at Lowes or Home Depot cheaper.

I had a shipment coming throught a port on the east coast from Liverpool, and then by truck from the east coast to here... but it passed by you yesterday... oh well. You are probably right. I thought all the stars might have lined right up for us, but I missed it.

Cheers!,
