My life would be so easy if I didn't have to rely on other people.
In September I ordered 5 fruit trees. I was told that delivery would be when they were dormant, probably October.
I then got a note saying delivery would be delayed to mid November because of the mild Autumn.
I arrived home on Saturday night to find that TNT had tried to deliver them on Friday and again on Saturday while I was away so I phoned them on Monday to arrange delivery on thursday (today) as DW would be at home.
She's just phoned me to say that the guy has crashed his van and has had to go to hospital. They were sending out another driver to sort things out. The police want to impound the van and all its contents for at least two days, which means that two working days is Monday, but DW won't be home to take delivery until Thursday.
I'm glad they're bare root trees and not something that would wither and die over two weeks sitting in a warehouse and van.

Don't worry, Rich, you're NOT the only one! I could tell you a long story about ordering a custom door for the house... It was truly a 3 ring circus and super frustrating. The door didn't wither up or die... it was just about a month late in coming.
I guess it happens to us all! Poor van driver, tho!

I drive down to one of the orchards and get fruit trees straight from the grower, I've lost too much stuff from shipping delays and "lost" orders
 the ad below says "one in three pets will be lost" -- I wonder if those pets aren't just delayed in the post as well
if you did not make that same mental jump, please note that I'm posting rather late, having been up rather early.... I cannot vouch for the clarity of my statements

What a "bummer" as we say Rich, and my dad's first birthday order of daylilies for me was delivered to the wrong address and arrived later, than it should have done, and the plants looked awful on arrival, though luckily it wasn't a matter of "weeks" late. I've had my problems with other orders being split up and parts sent at the right planting time for spring , but the rest of the order for some cannas arriving in the fall, just in time to go into storage.

Oh boy, this got better.
The police released the vehicle on Monday and we phoned TNT to be told that all parcels on the van would be delivered on Tuesday.
Tuesday arrived, and at 4 o'clock I phoned TNT to confirm that the parcel would be delivered. They said it was delivered the previous Tuesday, and he would phone me back, he didn't.
DW phoned him back the next day, and they were confused, until the penny dropped. They had a parcel for number 116, we live at 161. Someone had been trying to deliver it to us, then twigged the error and took it to the correct address. Meanwhile we were phoning them and being given duff information.
So the parcel was never for me in the first place, was not on the crashed van and my trees haven't been sent yet.
Thanks TNT

You might be better off waiting until the spring now. Are you still keeping your order with them or going somewhere else?

None of this was the nursery's fault, they can't send me the trees until they go dormant. With the frost we had this morning, that won't be long.

Our less than 5 years old dishwasher died about five weeks ago, so we went to Sears and got a new one. Two weeks after installation, it started leaking all over my NEW laminate floor. A week after calling them they came out to tell us it was a factory defect and we would have to take this coupon to the store for a new dishwasher.
My husband went today and was told they didn't have the same model anymore (what do they do, make six and forget it?). Anyway, he got a comparable model and they would deliver it Sunday. That was fine until I learned they were not going to un-install the old one (we'd have to get rid of it ourselves) and were also not going to install the new one (we'd have to call our own plumber - who charged us $133 for the FIRST install). GRRRR!
After threatening to cancel the whole deal, we got them to agree to uninstall and re-install but only if we call their plumber and make arrangements ourselves. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER SEARS APPLIANCE AGAIN.
I am also trying to figure out how to post this so everyone on the Internet can see it.

I met an author recently. She was offered a lucrative editing job for a top magazine published in the U.S.Here she was in little ol'Adelaide and she got the job.But only if she met the deadline for shipping to the printers. So not trusting Aust. Post she hire a firm IPEC to courier it to Sydney for shipping. The courier arrived and gets all the info. says No Worries. She says no you don't understand my very livelihood hinges on this parcel being in Sydney on Tuesday. So the day comes and goes 9am Wednesday morning she gets acall from the magazine company. You missed the deadline you're fired. She tracked the parcel down it arrived in Perth,W.A.,the other side of the country. In stead of ringing the company and blasting some poor secretary she got her revenge another way.She wrote a character into her book Ipac and had him slain brutally. The book is Emissary by Fiona McIntosh
