There are hundreds of different aloes, from tiny ones to huge trees!
Mine pictued is Aloe aristata, a small windowsill pant that produces lots of pups!

I've had an aloe vera for 25 years and it has never flowered. I didn't know it could do anything but produce babies! Do they flower at all, do you know? IF so, I'll have to find a way to try and improve the conditions for mine.

Aloe veras do flower, but only when mature I think-theyre quite big plants(I have a 'small' one!) and true aloe veras produce huge yellow flowers in summer!
Unfortunatley most so called aloe veras are hybrids(spotty leaves indicates a hybrid) but they should still flower when mature.
have a look gere:

Hi Everyone
Found this thread whilst searching for info on aloes - mine happily have flowered for the first time this year as per the pics above, (now that they live in a south facing conservatory and not a shady windowsill!).
The flowers have faded to leave about a dozen green pods - does anyone know if these are these seed pods and if so is it possible to harvest them?

Never knew that mine was a hybrid! I use the juice all the time for burns and scrapes.
The flower in the link actually reminds me of the bloom of my yucca, which is outside. Tall spike with the cascae of flowers at the top...

Yes you can get seeds, the pod will dry out and split, and the seeds are thin and papery, like small Elm seeds-wind dispersed.
