After hitting the window, at least I found her on the deck below a window, I placed her in a basket to recover. After a while she took off so I'm hoping all is well.

That looks like a goldcrest which is the smallest British bird.

The "expanded" photo makes you just want to reach out and brush the loose feathers from his/her adorable face.

I was pleased that it had a happy ending.

I'd never seen the kinglets before til a number of years back , when for some reason, the ones migrating in fall chose my Weigela shrub to perch in and congregate in . Unfortunately the cat noticed them as well, and they were such easy targets and perhaps not quick learners, that the cat would catch one right after the other , til the whole group left a week or so later. I thought they were beautiful, but considering their fate in my yard, I guess it was best that I've not seen them return during the past few years , during their migrations. They sure are tiny and delicate little birds and beautiful as well. I'm glad your's recoverd ok!! Reminds me that just last week , my mom said to watch my step when stepping out her bedroom sliding glass door as she swore there was a dead or injured bird lying there, which had hit the window. I looked carefully around and there was no sign of the bird, and she swore there was one there. I guess in that case as well , the bird had recoverd and moved on, though my mom thought it was dead. Guess what Rich, they do look very similar , since they are both in the same genus "Regulus" , though different species! We do share some species across the pond , but unfortunately not as many as I might like. I do love some of your English birds as well, but would gladly return all the starlings, which number perhaps into the 100's of millions in the states now!! They really have pushed "aside many of our native birds over the years as they took many of the best nesting areas etc.
