It has very pretty flowers but does get invasive if you don't control it. I have no idea what the name is although I did know at one time. (Old age is here, not creeping up)

That's what I was thinking as Loosestrife is invasive. I still like the plant though. ;) ;) ;)

Yes, it sure looks like loosestrife. I thought the purple loosestrife was the invasive one. I have it, by the way, and it's not invasive in my garden. I think it's more invasive in moister soils.

Lysimachia/Loostrife--same thing. It is on the noxious weed list in MI and several other states, purple or yellow flower versions. I inadvertently grew some in mostly clay, dry soil and was lucky it didn't spread. Somebody mowed it down and and never recovered (whew!) It likes to take over and eradicate native species. I don't have much nice to say about it, except, get rid of it. Check w/county agr. extension for more info. Sorry to be so glum, it is a handsome plant, but you know what they say about handsome men...

What do they say about handsome men?   Thank you all for the ID. It is Lysimachia Punctata or Golden Loosestife. It is in a dry location in my garden beside the house and I can at least control it there as I see it everyday going out the door.

It's a beautiful plant. I'm glad some one knew what it is, I think I have some in my front yard. Mine isn't blooming though. Or mine could be some thing else. i'll take a picture and see if anyone knows what mine is. Buster.

There we go again with another of those "common" name things just to add to confusion. The very invasive pest is of course the Purple Loosestife, but that's a Lythrum. I'm not sure about the yellow loosestrife being so invasive, but almost any plant can be under the "ideal" growing conditions, so that some things that tend to invasive in some climates in the U.S. are not invasive in other areas.
