I accepted a bunch of concrete chunks from my neighbors builder. I have used enough before to boarder 4 ponds from what I found in piles along the road dumped. It really looked nice over the years when moss started to cover them but I never had to deal with a grass edge before and after a week, (they arn't in place yet) I can see it'll be a problem. Anybody have any ideas or pictures of what you've done with even bolders. I thought about some gravel in the front and they reason why I wanted them is because I need to build up the soil...way too sandy. I'm not sure if I want to do another pond and what I'm really going to do with them yet...maybe on the ground for an area with a table and chairs...just looking for some ideas.

How about using them to make a raised bed and put in the type of soil you want for the types of plants you want?

I know this sounds strange but I have given away concrete scalloped edging, because I didn't like it, to my neighbor and I think I'll place it under the two Yew on eith side of my front door where that was. I've got plants now that I accepted from another Lowes what couldn't be sold...I knew the garden manager and she talked with another manager who already gave me a truck load. Five dump struck loads. There's already enought Pacasandra at work so I might use them here with the rockcrete. Over the years If I stay here I could continue to add compost and the plants will grow right up to it...in the mean time it will hide the straggliness. but the daffodils will show in the spring...now if I can pull togther some energy.
They are so uneven and it would take more to work them into the soil for a patio look....I have thought of an area for Sedums also. Still not sure....I don't care that they looked piled on my front lawn.

B) That's called 'rip-rap' when making walls and terraces out of broken concrete. By stacking the stones flat sides facing each other, you'll get a much more stable and secure structure.

I like that term...I did place the first layer down and good thing you mentioned that way because it would make a difference but the mowing is trouble. Now I'm thinking if I can find a liner in the next few weeks I'd make a pond with plants around like I have before. Must use gloves....it really rips up the hands...maybe that's why it's rip rap.
