I was given a bunch of apples so I just finished makeing 48 pints of apple butter! Has anyone tried or used the Victorio Stainer? What a fantastic tool. It removes all the seeds and skins with NO waste! I got it last year and used it to make seedless blackberry jam. If you do a lot of canning you should check it out. I'm canning tomatoes with zucchini and onions today. They are so good in soups. Lots of work but everything will sure taste good this winter.

I usually just prep my apples for pies and freeze them in full Qt Zip Lock bags. Never tried to make apple butter. Is there a special receipe you use?

mla2ofus - is that the tool that has a sort of handle that you turn and a paddle forces the fruit through a sieve?

Yes, Mary. The first time I used one a friend loaned it to me. I was doing apples then and I could not believe how much of the apples I had been wasting useing the cone sieve. The skins and seeds were actually dry! I just did close to 100 pounds of apples and had maybe a gallon of skins and seeds to put in the compost pile. If you google Victorio Strainer, you can see what all it does-even removes tomato seeds.
