I have two dogs. One has fleas really bad and the other - none. I have treated the yard several times but it seems like if there is a flea anywhere on the block it attaches to Killer. He is on Frontline by the way. I bathe him 4-5 times a week with flea shampoo and I also use spray on flea stuff. And he still has fleas. Any suggestions?

they say that 80% of the flea population is in egg/larvae state, living in the surrounding, the carpets, the pet's beds and such. So its vital to spray the surounding too. Why not buying this stuff to feed your dogs with (both), which stops the multiplying of the fleas? All sprays and powders are not very healthy for us humans too, so I never used them when my cats had fleas. I only gave them this medicine (ampule), once a month and the fleas died away after a while. The drug was called Lufenuron (Program - tm)

Wow Brenda... are you checking to see if maybe he's just having a BAD ALLERGIC reaction to the fleas???? I have two dogs... one is "immune"... never a flea, the other is the MAGNET! I treat them both with Frontline.... so far so good! My "allergic" pup has a way to go in getting thru the hot spots from the bites but that's my suggestion.. GOOD LUCK and hopefully they're not in your house... if so... talk to JustCeej... she just was on a flea extermination....
Dear God, what IS the purpose of those lil nasties??? Thanks for your response!, Clams

Thanks Nettle and Clams. So far no fleas in the house. And I've treated/washed all bedding etc. I think he is getting them from under the storage shed where he likes to go in the heat of the day. Can't figure out how to treat under there enough to kill the little buggers off.

Brenda. there's a Flea Powder for use on your pets and their bedding, carpet, etc... called SARGEANT'S Flea Powder... I'd use a leaf blower to blast some under the porch! Maybe that'll do it! EZ on the leaf blower tho! LOL!

Feed them both some garlic. I was told this years ago when I did everything for my dog. I steamed garlic poured the juice over his food and mixed some of the cloves in his food for a week. You only need one garlic per week cut up boil in a big pot of water. When you do not see any more fleas you are usually safe. It will take about a week.
The following summer I did it again and the fleas would not go anywhere near her.
Another good deterent is Avon skin so soft in the bath water.
Also, if their skin is on the dry side fleas will attack. Mix some veg oil in their food that also helps them resist fleas. My dog wanted Land o lakes butter. She had champagne taste, Beer money. If I found it on sale I would give it to her. If we forgot and left it on the table she would steal it.

Borax is a great way to chase them out of your house. Just sprinkle it around like you would a carpet freshner, let it sit for a while and then vacuum as usual. If you know someone with a chinaberry tree, get a few limbs from them and place them around the yard especially in those trouble spots. Fleas can't stand chinaberry so whether it chases them away or kills them---they will still be gone. I've heard that you can use a garlic, brewers yeast and olive oil mixture to put on their food and not only is this supposed to be effective at getting rid of the little buggers, it's also good for the skin and coat. Pennyroyal is an effective remedy, in the past people used to lay it around to ward off fleas and/or fashioned collars out of the plant for their animals. I do recommend caution with this last remedy as it is the toxins in pennyroyal that do the trick. I have found that the borax and chinaberry have given the best results for the enviroment and as such has cut down drastically on my flea problem.

Thanks everyone. I currently sprinkle garlic powder on their food but will switch to the real stuff like Aud suggested. And Osunshine thanks for the tip about the chinaberry. We just happen to have one in our backyard. Guess hubby can get out the chainsaw this weekend and cut a few branches off. Clams I didn't even think about using the leaf blower to treat under the shed. Gonna do that too this weekend. I guess this weekend we go to WAR with the fleas
