Heuchera Hybird Amber Wave
Heuchera a. 'Ring of Fire'
Heuchera Hybird Green Spice
Do you think they will survive if I put them in the ground now or should I protect them in pots for the winter. They are 1 Gal nursery size.

Ooo nice selections Aud. It depends on how lont before your first frost...i've just planted H. Ring of Fire and H. Chocolate Ruffles...the first frost date is still pretty far off. H. Amber Waves i would worry about...it's not known for it's hardyness.

terese, it is sounding like I do not want Amber...She wants sun, she can't take it too cold, she don't want too much wind. Gee Whiz she is going to have to SUCK-IT-UP she is living or dieing in PA. :(

  Yeah AW is prissy. :P If AW dies on you i'd suggest getting peach flambe or peach melba instead...they're suppose to be less picky. ;)

If I can find them I will give them a try. I had to order these. All they sell around here is Purple Palace. At least "Missy Amber I Want" did not cost me 22.00 bucks. :D Everytime I see them on the net they are asking a pretty heavy price for those 3" pots.

Good grief! for $20+ that better be a gallon size pot overflowing with heuchera. My gallon sized ROF was on sale for $3.99. -_- Don't give up hope...the local nurseries never had anything heuchera wise until this year...next year i hope it gets even better.

Aud, I just saw a garden show today where they used Purple Palace to contrast with some of their green plants and it looked awesome. The garden they planted was a foliage garden and was just too cool. I'm not familiar with the new ones you bought but they are probably cool as well. Next year I'll definitly buy more Purple Palace to go in my new bed. And some of the very dark Coleus and some low growing grasses.Connie

I love the purple palace. Has anyone planted it beside "moonbeam" coreopsis? Beautiful!! I want to get chocolate ruffles and one that has very marbled colored leaves but I can't remember it's name right now ^_^ (Senility strikes again--or CRS? )
Aud I googled the ones you mentioned. They are really pretty.

Linda the marbled one....hmmm....Monet? or...strawberry....swirl (i think). Chocolate Ruffle is a nice one...also obsidian for another dark leaf heuchera.

Thanks Teresa. It's Monet. The obsidian is going to have to go on my list of must haves. I actually started a list of plants that I've seen on the forum so I can get a head start in the spring
