Well, due to circumstances beyond our control, my friend and business partner and I are going to move our herbs to a different location. With the storms blowing and all the problems that seem to come from them,we decided to move them while they have a fighting chance. We have 12 new raised beds ready to be planted and I have plenty of cuttings to be planted. The sage at the farm has gone belly up again so I'm just going to start over with brand new everything where they are concerned. It's very frustrating! At least everything else is doing alright. The weeds are so bad where the beds are. I don't even know what some of them are or from where most of them have come. I have the feeling that the answer is blowing on the wind! Anyway, it's quite a large job and I'm trying to find another camper to put out there to live in while we are working this out. Unfortunately, they are in short supply at this time. I'm looking for one that is used and not very expensive. I need no more debt! I'm almost tempted to put up a tent! Anyway, I'm hoping to head out there in the next few weeks. Wish me luck, I'm beginning to think that the only reason things are still going is because I'm just too damn stubborn to give up. So many well meaning people are trying to talk me into throwing in the trowel. I just don't seem to be able to do it! I won't until I have nothing left and then I'll still probably have to be dragged out kicking and screaming. I will not give up...I will not give up...I will not give up...

I sure hope you can make it!! I know it will be a rough row to hoe but you have to keep your dreams alive. God willing everything will work out, even if you feel there's no help in the offing. If there was a way to help I would be first on the list. Concerning the new beds and weeds, can you put down black plastic for a while to kill the weeds and weed seed? I have done that in the past with great success. I don't know what your time line is, I don't have any herbs to send you , but there may be other BS'rs that maybe could help by sending those you lost or need to supplement. God be with you!!

Good luck OSunshine. A lot of us have probably dreamed of having a herb farm but there you are actually doing it. Good for you and your partners, I hope the move goes smoothly for you.

The new beds are indeed built with an underlying layer of black plastic. The weeds are just too bad where they are presently growing. And the irrigation has been less than perfect to say the least. Living so far away, it's been an uphill battle to keep everything flourishing. My partner and her new husband also have an avairy with I don't know how many pair of breeders. So during the egg laying time she really feels the struggle as well. Anyway, we decided that if we are going to make this work, we'll have to move everything to a location that is more conveinent and I need to be out there---after all I am the grower. The sage is the the only "problem child" and once I'm firmly in place, we'll have a hard thyme keeping up with me. We already have a supply shed, the fresh manure is seasoning,we have layered hay and black plastic to inhibit the weeds, the propagation shed is almost complete, the compost is happily composting and irrigation is going to be much more efficient at this new location. It's just going to be so much work, well it won't be hot too much longer. A couple of weeks and the nights will cool, the days might get hot, but not with the intensity of summer. I appreciate the support, though, we certainly need it. People mean well, but, telling us that we gave it our all and we shouldn't feel bad that we failed...well, we haven't failed. We still have plenty of herbs growing and to be grown, we've just had a few setbacks that's all. But, it gets hard when you see others lack of confidence. I used to sing my boys a lullaby that told them to dream and their dreams would come true. I happen to believe that dreams can come true. So thanks, it's great to be told that it is possible.
