Well, the selection was very small, but I sure was tempted , but again I was with my stepdad, and didn't want any criticism for adding more plants to my already crowded collection, and since so many of my plants, that are still outdoors have grown , I'll find fitting them all back in the house in a few weeks and even bigger challenge. I must say though ,they had those often hard to find Ardisia crenata or coralberries offered, and I've not had one of those in years. They're a very pretty dark green with crickled margins on the leaves and can get clusters of very pretty flowers, followed by bright red berries for long lasting color. I had one years ago and it was beautiful though the winter months , sometimes when other plants weren't in bloom. I think there were small Dieffenbachias, and philodendrons as well, that I don't have. Maybe it will be a "secret" trip alone back to the Kroger store this week?? After all they are very small plants in two inch pots and how much room can those take?? Just give those a couple of years though, and they might take over my house as all the rest of the plants seem to like to do!!

MrS. I will give you a good answer for your stepdad. Listen closely. When you see these good deals. Say this.....
WOW!!! AUD MY GOOD FRIEND TOLD ME IF I SAW THESE PLANTS TO BUY THEM AND SHE WOULD SEND ME THE MONEY
Now if you will feel like you are telling a white lie. You can send me a start of the plants when they outgrow their new home. :D See how easy that will be... you get your plants and you are not telling a untrue story. BECAUSE I am your good friend and I want every plant that exist. :D  ;)

Well, I have bought a small bag of potting mix for some cuttings I'm trying to start, but it would work equally well for some new baby plants, as I'm sure since they're in such tiny pots , they could use immediate repotting. I just hope they don't get too dry and are dead when I return. They were quite dry Saturday and Krogers is notorious for not keeping their plants watered. One possibly might be a coffee and I've not had a coffee plant before!! Maybe tomorrow on my day off will be soon enough!!

I had to dig out this old post after nine months, I guess , just to figure out how fast some of the plants have grown, and in some cases they've doubled in size and many need repotting. Of all those that have done better than perhaps anticipated, the weeping fig has doubled in size, and though I thought I might move it to a sunnier spot , now that's it's window is shaded by the summer leaves on the tree just outside that formerly sunny window. I see it's still growing and it's not done any of that "infamous" leaf shedding they're known for doing at the drop of a hat with any changes in location. Having said that, I opted anyway to leave it in the same location it's been in from day one, and didn't want to find out the hard way, how fast it might shed it's leaves if moved to a different window. It's too needs to move from a six inch pot to perhaps an eight inche one. The tricolor dracaenas are showing their characteristic large fleshy roots have reached the bottoms of their pots as well, so rather than let them get potbound they should have larger pots as well. Some of the coffee plants, and the coral berries need larger pots as well, but all those new pots and potting soil have cost me a small fortune already this spring with all the larger plants needing so many more expensive pots and tons of new potting mix!! I knew I was creating a moster of sorts buying so many "starter" plants, and though they were cheap they quickly turn into quite an expense as they all grow so fast and need new pots and new soil so often , the first few years , when they'r growing the quickest. Later on hopefully they'll slow down a tad. There are limits!!

Mr. Seedy, maybe you could take some starts from some of your mature plants and part with the big plant and keep the starts. That way you get the joy of watching them grow and mature and you'll have more room. Just a thought. Connie

well, i was ready to get out of the office to head to kroger for their special ---- glad I checked the date on MrS' first post! Egads. I think I got in on that deal myself. Picked up a few philadendroms. DH hates it when Kroger does that. He knows I end up getting my own shopping cart = BUT DEAR, THEY ARE SO CHEAP!!!!! Yeah, yeah, until you have to buy soil and new pots. Would be nice if pots werent so expensive. If you need somewhere to store your new and bigger plants, there is some room left on my dining room table.

I sometimes think the shipping alone would pay for a new large plant, the way those shipping costs are rising or I'd consider shipping more around the country. Hardly makes sense to sent a fifty cent plant for $8 in shipping and handling charges though. I can see the way those costs are going , it won't be long before the fifty cent plant costs $100 to ship. Oh well, maybe a few years!! In regards to the pots, I found just going out for some small six inch plastic "cheapo" pots, I paid a buck apiece at the local dollar store, and that's almost robbery to me. I guess I'll have to start shopping "ahead" for pot bargains , so I can stock up for future use! Sixty bucks for potting soil and another twenty of thirty just for repotting various sized houseplants this year here. OUch!!!!!

I have come to terms that I have a plant addiction. I also know that addiction need pots and soil. Sooooo I am always on the lookout for pots and soil on sale. I have found 40lbs bags of Miracle gro soil for 2.00, tree size pots for 99. When summer is over they mark stuff so cheap I stock up. So I have an add addition POTS AND SOIL WHAT NEXT!!!!

Admitting you are addicted is a huge step toward recovery. However, in cases this severe, it is nearly impossible to recover completely. I know I have an addiction to new plants, which need new pots, which demands more potting soil. Luckily my DH is very understanding about my addiction, although he does his best to blindfold me whenever we go anywhere that has plants -- Even Kroger is not a safe place for me to go. I JUST CAN'T HELP MYSELF!!!!!!!!!! I truly believe the plants will not like another person's home as well as they would mine or that that person would be able to care for them as well as I. I look at it as charity... yeah, charity... poor plants would just die without my care... <_<

What's really dangerous is when you share a co-dependent relationship with your spouse! <_< It only makes the addiction worse!! Last year I kept getting phone calls at work from Jesse about plants on sale at Lowe's and asking how many should he buy?!!
