dear blossom buddies, as you may or may not know i have a dam to clean up and sort out, mum knows what kind of plants she wants growing on the other side and can't remeber the name. we have all sorts of wildlife including eels and wild ducks and recently a stork type bird. i will be accessing the other side by a tinny, and be making a deck with a dock. sounds funny. we have wild or native water lillies, which are the blue flowering type. they've been battered this year by a flood so i don't expect to many flowers. what kind of reeds would you sugest the guppies do fine and it never freezes over. no plants have died in witner here yet. please help! :(

ungreen, your pond sounds like a (small?) lake to me
have you grown giant papyrus?? i think it's lovely, and i like horsetail reed (equisetum) as well.
for more flowers. there are some beautiful iris that grow especially well at the waterside.
and if i had more space in my pond (which is a very small pond, indeed) i would also want to grow lotus

 as much as i'd like to say, i've never heard of people drinking warm beer. nope most aussies i know drink it cold in a chilled glass or straight from the can. i personally don't like beer(too bitter) i prefer rum or bouron with cola. you'll all be pleased that i spent another 2.5 hours "prunning" today and i have pictures of my "compost" pile growning by the second. i also put up a makeshift fence out of electrical fencing tape. havn't planted any plants and won't till i get some ground dug and manured and fertilized. i'm going to put in two raised garden beds in the sunny end, they'll have vegies in one and herbs in the other. i used roundup and killed weeds and grass on the other side of the fence. i'm a little scared to get close to thefar corner, it has some very angry and over grown lantana. mum has told me to be home on sunday so i can point out which trees need a trimmin with the chainsaw. i found some lovely lillies the blue kind have opened over night but there are none near my pond. i have made a very good guess, too shady so down come some more trees. my hands are killing me i'm dirty and itchy, i have a holiday this weekend with my other half, i'll see you all on sunday after i finish attacking the trees.
