Does anyone have any tips on how to get masking tape off a door that has been on it for a few yrs. I've tried a rubber scraper that came with pampered chef and that didn't work. I have tried soaking it and then trying to scrap it off. any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Try olive oil or any other oil. Nail polish remover. Actually there's something you can get at the hardware store for removing tape residue, Canadian Tire here has one for removing those nasty gummy residues left when you buy something that the paper part comes off and the glue sticks. Even try taking a new piece of DUCT tape and putting it over the masking tape then pulling it off may work. Sorry that's all I can think of.:(

goop off.

i don't know if you can use it on wood surfaces or on painted surfaces though - you'll need to check the label. any hardware store will have it (local mom/pop or big box) and places like target, walmart, etc might also carry it. big lots, too.

I don't know whether this is the same one as Jocelyn mentioned, but we used Goo Gone a lot when the kids were small. It works really well. It says on their website that you can use it on wood.

It's the same stuff I was talking about, Laurie, but I couldn't remember what it was called as my DIL was the one that bought it and said it was great. Meanwhile I was doing the olive or other oil application.

Laurie, I use goo B gone...and it works great...and even on wood..I had to get masking tape off the windows, hubby taped up the area around the AC...and it wont make you scrape alot..esp with your hands...I apply it, and wait about 5 minutes then it comes right off..

Mainegal, did the WD40 work? I need to start removing some around my new house. The idots must have had some plans painting and masking tape on all the baseboards. I have tried washing it off but no go. I hate to have to re-stain them.
