Belches bland banalities;
Buzz words, clips and sound bites,
Twisted, distorted realities.

Politicians posturing,
Making their best pitch;
Truths unrecognizable
Behind the glam and glitz.

No more blaming victims,
Empty promises not kept;
See the hopeless faces
Of those now so bereft.

We must lose the blinders
And look beyond the lies;
Listen with our hearts
And hear the desperate cries!
