It's really rough if you have relatives in a disaster area. Hope any news is good. When the hurricanes hit Florida I was in that position several times, but was really lucky.

OH TS big hug http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v27/rhjff/clipart/bigarmhug.gif maybe they are on a bus and in a day or so will be able to get a hold of you or let someone know. It is hard to wait and it look like this is gonna take a while to get things organized.

Hopefully you'll hear something soon! Communications are so intermittent in that area right now!

i'm so relieved that you know your people are safe!! (all but 1?)

dh and i are breathing easier today too.
we got word today (all but 1 heard from for us too), most of them went to tx before the storm, thank god.
they feel there is no chance that their homes survived, from what they've seen of the tv coverage,
i was afraid that might be the case.
but they are safe and not stuck in the tragic situation that now exists, and that is a blessing, and a major weight off my mind.

thank you all so very much for your prayers and support.
i pray that others are also learning of the safety of family and friends.

I'll keep praying for all those folks , including your friend. If only things would start to look better, but it still looks like things are going downhill daily, with no end in sight, and I just can't imagine how I'd do in a similar situation. A short power outage of a few days can seem to turn my "world up on end" with coping with the lack of electricity, but still I'm high and dry and know my home will be back to normal as soon as the power comes back on, and it's still standing. I'm looking for a light at the end of the tunnel. that things will start to improve for those folks , but still see few signs anything is improving, as far as even meeting their minimal needs!!

I hate to say this but...

We must learn from everything in life be it good or bad. What I have learned is that we can not depend on the government to save us or help us when we need it. I?m not saying the government isn?t doing things right or wrong or fast enough. I?m just saying that learning to depend on ourselves rather than the government can help a lot when the shlt hit?s the fan if for no other reason than putting us in the proper mindset.

 That being said...

It's day five, still no word :( I do not doubt that he would be ok it the place he sheltered in stands, as he is a hiker like me and would more then likely have taken his gear which includes Water Filter/Purifier, stove, things that would alow him and his to ride out the aftermath of no power etc.... But if the house didnt stand  who knows, with two elderly parents.
