HI
I purchased this plant yesterday and the only thing it said on the tag was indirect light. It has parallel veins and the stem ripples before the leaf starts. I hope the pictures help you out. It looks similar to a ginger or a cast iron plant, but I would like to know exactly what it is and not what I think it could be. THANKS!!! :D

Hmmm.. It's really hard to tell. Can you post a pic of the entire plant, rather that in sections? That MAY help! :P Thanks! AND welcome to BS! From Vancouver Island BC Canada! ;)

I'd guess it's an aroid though I couldn't tell you which one. It could be one of the compact varieties of philodendron, anthurium, etc. Most likely it's a "peace lily" or Spathiphyllum, though I see no flowers on it to make sure!!

Does look a bit like one to me too Rich , but I think the leaves are a bit wrong. Here's a picture of one of my "bird" leaves, and grown under bright enough light they develope a pink to red streak down the center vein of each leaf. I must say however the leaf "organization" or distribution does look the same with two rows of leaves on each side of the center and opposite each other up the stem.

B) I thought there was a bit of BOP in there too, but no. Possibly a variety of Dieffenbachia picta or some type of Aglaonema, but the first pic reminds me of Aspidistra leaves <_<
