I just added a new room to my shade house the 2 frames are from small green hosues I got on ebay cheaper than buying all the wood to bulid one every thing I used was under $250.00 I put up the first one last year and soon ran out of space for all my epiphyllum now I can put all of them out there for the summer if I see next year I'll need more room I will buy the the green house off ebay and use the frame for a new room  each room is 6x6 or you can say I have a 6x12 shade house I want to get into growing more epiphyllum and other related epiphytes the sides are roll up shades I got at the goodwill for $2.00 each so I can let more air in when its hot or roll them down when it cools down at night it took me 4hrs to put it up and the rest of the day to move and tag the rest of the plants

WTG Looks great. I love when people do things like that on a dime. I love the Goodwill. I love thrift shops period. Heck I drag things home from peoples trash if I can get more life out of it. This spring I'll be making a hoop house out of some cheap garden arches I found in the trash. I got a greenhouse cover in a thrift shop for $5. It wont look like much but I'll be able to start my seeds and cuttings early and that's all I need.
I heard of a guy who made a shade house out of those carports you can get at Home Depot. He added on to it as his needs grew. He did it for a greenhouse too.

Your shade house looks great and your plants look happy in it too. I have to ask though....where do you put them (the plants) in the winter?

I'm really happy with the way it turned out I,m thinking of adding one more room to it come spring most of the plants will be bigger and need the room to grow

mla2ofus........ they all go in the basment for the winter I have a set up just for them the stay cool and don't get much water from nov to mid jan when I stat to water and feed them a little after the chance of any frost the go back out in the shade house

What a cute spot!! :) I like the vine going up the side and your use of materials. I built a shade house this year too but mine isn't as nice looking.

I can't believe it only took four hours to put together. That's great and your plants look like they really love the spot. ;)

Great shade house! Any hostas down low? I have a door like that in my storage because I needed a new shiny brass door handle for my front door and saw one on a large glass paned door at a car dealership that was moving. I asked about it and they said I could have the handle if I took the door also. Good I have a van! I think the door will make a great top for a cold frame should I have a garden again to plant. Yes, it is going to TX with me...

sorry no hosta they don't do well with all the sun in that area thats why I pickled that spot for my shade house you gotta love it when you find things for free I can always find a use for the stuff I find thats why the car is parked in the drive and not in the garage no room

You had a great eye for design. The window looks great but the wreath and face makes it look fantastic. LOVE it.

That looks great. It looks like a nice relaxing place for a cool sitting area through the day and a good place to sit and watch them open at night.

I just picked up a new green house on ebay to add to my shade house, I won't use the cover that comes with but I like that it has shelves so I have room for more cuttings to root. this one is a bit smaller but will still give me the room I need to grow cuttings and new plants. I want to start to grow more holiday cactus and now I'll have the room. this is what it would look like with the cover but it will look like the rest of my shade house when I'm done. I hope :)http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj252/GardenBear1/shadehouse2002.jpg

the new room on the shade house is up, now I'm waiting for it to warm up so I can fill it. the shade house is 20'x6' more than enough room for my epies, well enough for now. I plan on looking in to other kind of related epiphytes plants to grow, this year looks to be a great one for my epies.if I need more room next year I can add on to the middle room
