I've thought about growing bananas many times , but you almost can't get past the fact that even the smallest "dwarf" varieties will still have very large leaves even if they don't get so tall, that may have a hard time fitting into my small house!! I love the ones grown mostly for their colorful leaves; the ones with the red markings throughout the very large leaves. That's the "Musa acuminata zebrina". There's also one with variegated green with white leaves, but that one is rare and very expensive for a young pup even, and I saw it listed by one catalog at $100. I guess it was forbidden for anyone other than the Hawaiian kings to own one or possess one. I'm not sure however , if either variety is know for it's "quality" fruit, and I think they're most likely strictly ornamental varieties. I can't eat bananas anymore for some reason , becuase for some strange reason they give acute indigestion nowdays and strictly ornamental is fine with me.

Ah yes! Nothing like functional foliage! ;) Shade and sustenance in one plant! What more can you ask for? :D

The idea of laying under a Banana tree on Waikiki sounds like a winner to me!!! At least theres no Hawaii king to stop me. Great looking plant there Gonzer.

Boo..... look at the stem to the right of the one that has the date timestamped on it.... no follow it up to where a leaf stem curves to the left... keep going.... up up.... yep... now look just ABOVE the base of the leaf and you'll see lil curling upwards nanners!!!!! Squinting doesn't work when you try to find something in Gonzer's photos.... usually you have to step WAYYYYYYYY BACK from the monitor... and view it like it's an album cover from the 1970s... Like Pink Floyd's MEDDLE Album.... (You know.. the "one" with the macro shot?????? Or am I the only one that discovered THAT lil piece of artwork???? MrSeedy???? Any input???? -_- <_< )
