Afican Blue...New one...it was free, woody and it's great to drive home with basil, the scent is wonderful. I think I can take cuttings. Haven't tried yet. It should work. I have little peat pots swelling up. Isn't is pretty with the edge. I'm assuming cutting can be done..any success? I'm into crazy hot peppers also..I think cuttings are the way to keep what I like for next year...only to buy more of another to find something better for the following. There are lots and lots of basil and peppers but never made a dish with both. Have you?

I just found the African Blue Basil this spring, and I love the scent....fantastic. Plus I have had good success with rooting it in water. I had a stem left over when I cut some for seasoning, and I stuck it in water, about a week and a half later there were roots all over it!

That's a pretty basil, Deb. There is a hot pasta salad that uses both basil and hot peppers.

Thanks both, much..I have a hose on the peppers now ..they are dry forgiving but the basil is fine under a hood of peat pot cuttings and well the main plant..gave it gallons....we are really again lacking rain. Is there ever a perfect year...I should ask an old gardener at work.. to say, yeah back it 1935...rain an inch a week all summer..
