Hi everyone!

I have 2 peace lilies that need to be replanted (I have had them for 2 years and am assuming it needs to be done).

I need to know what type of soil to purchase, pots, fertilizer, etc..

Also, do I need to cut back any dead roots from the rootball before replanting??

If you all remember, when I moved 3 months ago, the painters left them and my pothos outside in full sunlight and all three got burned..Needless to say, I had to trim off a ton of leaves and the plants are slowly recovering..

Thanks!

Jenn

If you've had them two years in fairly small pots and they've also formed lots of suckers or offsets from the main ones, they would indeed need some repotting, but you could tell if you examine the rootball and find roots very thick all around the outsides and bottom of the rootball. Yes, you can trim dead roots, and then go for a quality "premium" potting mix like Schulzes or Miracle-Gro that are high in organic matter, and also have some perlite and or vermiculite added for extra drainage. Those heavy cheaper potting mixes can quicky kill many tropical plants as they tend to stay soggy for too long after a good soaking. You may find the odd plant that tollerates wet soil very well and doesn't mind staying wet for long periods and those will do fine in a heavy mix, but for most "light and airy" is the key to success.
