This is the kind of weather tornados are made of. I'm glad I got my barnyard work done this morning. I am surrounded by thunder storms and black clouds now. They are still pretty far away, but this is Colorado, and ya' never know....so I came in! My poor Border Collie is trying to be "one" with the floor again!

We just had a news flash.
This thunder storm is huge and is bringing so much rain that Colorado Springs is flooding right now. Hope it doesn't hit the ranch. My poor plants are just starting to do well again!

<_< Oh Jules, I do hope your place is safe. Just in case, hang on tight and do let us know how it goes. We'll be praying for you.

Sure glad I am not stuck in the traffic in town. There are bridges out, and cars stalled in intersections from flash flooding. One guy got out of his car and got swept away, so there are also rescue vehicles everywhere. I live way out of town and my house is up on a small rise. So far, I haven't had too much rain, just a couple of heavy showers, lots of thunder and wind. This is crazy!

My daughter phoned from Alberta a couple of days ago and she had seen her first tornado! It destroyed a garage that was on the street between her work and her home. They also had severe flooding and hailstones the size of golf balls and baseballs! She got bonked on the head with one but is fine.

This is her last week there thank God, she's coming back to the island by July 1. I can't wait to see her again, she's been travelling for 3 months now.

I'm glad to hear that your daughter is okay,Mary. Tornados and that large of hail stones are something to avoid! Was her car damaged by the hail stones? Growing up in Texas where there are a lot of both, I've seen new cars selling for a tenth of what they were worth because of all the dents in them.

She doesn't have a car - she was walking! After being at work (it was flooding in the cafe's basement) her bosses told her they were in the "eye" of the storm and to hightail it on home. She only lives a 3-minute walk from her job but on the way she had to take a detour because that garage I mentioned was blocking the entire street. She was pretty close to home when it started to hail and after getting bonked she took shelter under some shrubs.

I can't wait for her to come home.

Seems I"ve no sooner posted a very "negative" report on our bad weather , when I'm reminded how extreme weather can get in other parts of the states. Luckily I don't think I see one hail storm a year in our area, and I know how much damage even a "light" hail storm with small hail can cause, especially to crops and gardens.
I've never been caught outdoors in a hail storm, but I"m sure I'd not like it, especially if those hail stones were big enough to give you a fractured scull!! I'm glad your daughter is ok Mary!! I saw the reports of that "freak" storm in Colorado Springs on TV this morning and it didn't look "good"!!! I guess there was so much hail it clogged all the storm drains , which caused all the flash flooding.
I've never seen a flood where I live , nor do I want to!!

Glad to hear everyone made it through the crazy storms so far. Just about 1/2 an hour ago we had a severe thunderstorm with hail too. Luckily they were only about the size of a dime, so no damage was done.

MaryG I have a sister...named Mary...who lives in Edmonton AB, as well as a very close friend. They never seem to mention the tornados when they are harrassing me to come visit! :P I wonder why?
I'm glad your daughter was okay!

MrSeedy, last year we had the outside edge of a tornado hit us. The hail was the size of softballs, and it torrented on us for hours. My entire yard, every flowerbed, and the whole vegetable garden was shredded and flattened. I got so discouraged that I just let it all go after that. I couldn't bring myself to even look at all my hard work and beautiful flowers distroyed! :(
