You can really see the N. truncata parentage in the close up of the 'marbled dragon's' peristome. That mutant is so ugly!

I am in Kansas adenium....a long ways away from Sarawak, but my house is on its way to looking like it belongs there

Xvart....whats wrong with mutants? I dont mind the ugly mutants, they are so ugly their cute, they add a nice little bit of character to my collection, lol. Actually, people who come over usually comment on it first....not sure whats wrong with them :) I just like all Neps, I havent seen a single one I didnt like yet. But I was warned when I traded for it that a lot of people despise mutants...guess Im just strange :)

Thanks for the replies everyone!

I could say something about those but wont go there :ph34r::lol:. Very interesting plants. Ive tried growing plants like that before and never seem to have much luck with them. Maybe I should try again. My yard doesnt get much sunlight so Im starting to expand my houseplant list where I can control the lighting better. I can see it now, packing the car to move to Arizona and all you can see is my head poking out of strange looking plants

lol. I have nothing personal against mutants, lol. I always laugh because I know what you are talking about with people trading for them. There are people out there that are so adamant about them being destroyed so they don't contaminate or accidentally pollinate another flower and create this hoard of mutant neps. I personally wouldn't trade for one, but I see no reason not to if that's what you want... lol.

Just don't send me any mutant seed! lol. :lol:Good growing.

i think the hatered or disklike of mutant neps is ridicous, i actually kinda like them, you never know what your going to get! the people who dont like them are stingy little men with beady eyes and only "pure" plants, but enough with my rant, lol

those pics are so pretty! I'm afraid i'd kill them. Not enough year round humidity i'm afraid.

I've often seen them at garden shows, but have never grown them, you have some nice ones:)

Actually humidity is highly overrated in my experience. As long as you can give them good light and clean water you should be okay; depending on the species and variation, of course. Some specific plants need high humidity while others can do quite well with low.

I don't know much about these but I think they're fabulous plants, and of course ugly isn't necessarily a negative thing ;)
