OOOO I think I'm going to have to tell my DH I must have that or no clean laundry or food for him for a week.  Incidentally, I went to Lowe's last week to pick up some spackle and only had a couple of dollars cash on me, lucky for my DH I didn't have the checkbook because I saw that Purple Emporer's sedum and that is another that has to go on my must haves as well. That and I believe it's call frosty morn or something like that. Anyways, they were both on pretty cheap and looked awesome.....I debated for at least 30 min. hhhmmm spackle or sedum. Unfortunately, the spackle won as my DH was waiting at home for it for a project he is doing. :(

Yeah, it's a little all white guy but his edges look sad because I'm trying to root him. :)

Mel I have Frosty Morn and you have to watch it does not revert. If all green leaves start to grow you have to break it off. I root the cuttings in another area and the cutting starts varigating again. Double the pleasure.

I love that one. Most of mine are flowering righ now and very pretty, but I wonder , didn't boo say some need more shade and how about Black Jack's sun requirements?? Mine are all in a very sunny , hot spot, where they're planted, so I should see better this year which ones prefer more shade, though I do believe they were all there in through the entire summer last year?? Can't remember , when I planted them??

A sport of the popular Matrona, Black Jack differs from other dark-leafed Sedums in that it's a full 2 1/2 feet tall and 3 feet wide -- no need to restrict it to containers or small spaces! And the color is midnight-dark, even when the summer heat bleaches nearby plants.

Black Jack begins blooming in late summer and continues through fall, the flowers displaying the famous Sedum willingness to dry right on the plant and keep their shape beyond the first frosts. Butterflies find them irresistible, songbirds will use them as landing pads, and the falling snow will find a beautiful resting-place on these sturdy, attractive flattopped 5-inch flowerheads.

Like all Sedums, Black Jack thrives in a wide range of soils, and doesn't mind rough conditions from heat and humidity to cold and even drought. Once established in your garden, it's willing to weather just about anything that comes its way, making it one of the most carefree perennials you will ever grow. The foliage is leathery and very thick, which enables it to resist burning or fading.

Space plants about 2 feet apart for bushy, solid coverage. Zones 3-8.
