I have not been here in more than a year I think, I had lost the site and my sister found me LOL and asked me if this was me on this forum so I said YES. SO glad to be back.

I have some questions about why are there little mushrooms growing in my herb pots? I have had to bring the herbs back indoors as it is very cold weather here. It was summery in April and now we are in May, it seems like end of November weather. So since I brought them in I have only watered once or twice and not totally where it runs thru as this is a huge terra cotta pot. But I have noticed little mushrooms in the pot, why is this

its nothing to worry about, you can pick them out if you wish.

Mushrooms serve to break down plant matter into humas and nutrients for other plants. So when you see mushrooms in your pots our your garden beds, it just means you have organic matter and healthy living micro-organisems in your soil.

Hi thanks guys, I booked marked it this time WHEW.

Listen, I just read the back of the bag of soil I bought it has a Ph of 5.0 to 6.5. Now I heard herbs, especially herbs grown indoors need a richer Ph, how can I get the PH higher to match what these herbs need? I intend to bring my herbs in when it is cold as they do not tolerate the damp cold winters here.

So if the mushrooms are OK for the pots, then I will leave them. I was told that if mushrooms pop up it means the PH is bad and the soil is too sour. I also read that putting lime mixed with the soil is good for drainage.

Any die hard herbies here? I wont be planting my herbs in the ground all in terra cotta pots for later winter shelter in the home.
