We just moved and I just got my koi pond installed. I couldn't bare to leave it behind, so my lovely hubby dug it up. It used to be in a really shady area, and now it's in a very sunny area for most of the day. It's one of those kits you buy from wal mart. Anyway, the water seems to be either evaporating or leaking, but it seems like a lot of water for evaporation, but I don't know how fast normal evaporation is? I live in Oklahoma and it's been pretty hot, but I really don't want to dig this pond up and try to find a leak in the liner. Any ideas?

It's surprising how much a pond in full sun will evaporate even in England. Wait for a cool period and see how much the water level falls.

I'd say 4" per day or so. We shut the fountain down thinking most of the evaporation may be coming from the spray off of it. I will see today if it made a difference. My husband is convinced it's evaporation, it has been at least 90 every day!

angfento - I'm in Texas so we're neighbors and my pond is in mostly full sun and evaporates 4-5 inches per day. I refill it every evening. Turn your fountain back on, it helps provide oxygen.

Thanks! Yeah right now I don't have any fish in it, so I wasn't worried about oxygen : I would never put my fishies at risk!
