I spent today looking after a Mourning Dove. Rescued it out of my pool yesterday. I think it may have run into one of my windows. Anyway, it allowed me and the grandkids a closer look, a bit of stroking, then spent the day in dappled shade on a table in my laundry basket. Tonight it is in the kiddie pen(my converted upper deck). It doesn't seem to be able to fly. It has lots of Niger seed, which I know the doves love, and water. Maybe I'll run it over to the wildlife rescue if it is still here in the morning.

aw  I hope it's ok. It could be a little stunned if it hit your window. I hope it perks up but taking it to a wildlife place would be good too. We've taken everything from baby owls to red tailed hawks. It's nice to have such wonderful places available. Let us know how the little baby does. doves are too cute

I love mourning doves, but unfortunately , so does my brother's cat, and she finds them a favorite!! I think they're especially "dumb" birds, I'm sorry to say. if you just go by the ease with which the cat catches so many of them. I hope the baby does well!!!

Well, she's still here! She squeezed through the lattice of the deck and has taken up residence in the garden. She perches on a low concrete planter box. I left her food and seed, and the guard dogs, Cleo and Lad are too busy snoozing and ignore her. She seems to have adequate cover as the perennials and the Rose of Sharon tree are quite full. I'll check again tomorrow.
