i caught a look a this one the other day and snaped a pic, its betiful and since we made our pond bigger and put in a bog garden we have been seeing alot more dragonfly's and butterflys. i also recenlty put up a butter fly house in my new per3eiannal garden which is near the bog. This is an great lookin butterfly, i love the black, but what type is it? i looked in a book but couldent find a match.

p.s. you cant see it but this one has blue at the end of its wings on the outside of the wings.

I know tons of good butterfly websites and books that explain which butterfly is attracted to what which includes host plants, and necter plants. Wat par of he country are you in and I can find out wha plants the are attracted to in that area.

Not really, just a novelity, but I think if there's a fruiting tree that has some rotting fruit pn the ground over the winter it might get use it. Is this a rearing box? Do you have Sasafrass trees near by?
