Here is a pic of my cassia in flower. I planted the seed two years ago collected on a tree in Malaysia two years ago.

I've been tempted to order one of those from one of the tropical plant suppliers on-line, but aren't they quite large plants adenium?? I have a problme with the large growing tropicals quickly outgrowing my very small house wihtout major pruning to keep them down in size!! Those are beautifull and I'd imagine quite fragrant as well???

You're right Mr Seedy, mine is quite large or I would say quite tall. However I saw some of them that were quite compact and full of flowers. In fact you can keep it to a acceptable size, even in your house. I'm actually going to cut it back before bringing it back this Fall.
Unfortunately they are not fragrant, which is often the case with tropicals; they are very showy but not necessarily fragrant.

It germinatedy easily if I remember well. Sometimes it's quite difficult to remember since I bring back a lot of seeds and try to germinate them all together. However, I have been germinating other cassia seeds this year, and it was very rapid. I bring the plant back to my house in Fall (end of October) and it was in my bathroom (which is quite sunny) during Winter. But I think you could overwinter it in a less sunny and humid place; the only difference would be that it would not keep on growing as did mine. As a matter of fact, I won't be able to put it in my very small bathroom this winter because there is not enough room for it ...

What a very interesting approach! Take seeds during your travels... then you don't need the pics - because you have the real thing! What a wonderful idea.
You've given me a great idea. I work at a golf club where the gardener takes pride in all of his blooms. Hmmmm, perhaps I may be doing some raiding there! I hope, anyway!
