lol Did you style their hair?
Oh, my, they're adorable. It must be the mommy instinct in me. ![]()
The marvellous thing about a joke with a double meaning is that it can only mean one thing......
Thanks! I think they are so ugly they are cute. They kind of remind me of those ugly bald dogs.
I hope their parents were able to keep their little bald bodies warm last night.
They are Cuties.
I love it when they start turning colors.

I think they're called Chinese Crested. I think they're cute too.
I'm pretty sure I have Chickadee babies in one of my cedars. Early on I saw a Chickadee going into it with some nesting material and in there was an old ripped up ball of Sasha's that has a hole in the side but is otherwise still round. Perfect place I think for a nest so I've not looked into it since as I didn't want to put the mom off using it. I think one of the kids must have thrown the ball for Sash quite a long time ago and when it disappeared from sight didn't know where it had gone. I'll check it later on in the season to see if there was a nest in it.
Aud. My mother always said, "Look at you! You're mom must be very proud." It's better than saying, "Don't worry mom, he'll grow into those ears and nose." I must admit that I lie and tell them how beautiful their babies are.
Sadly the next morning they were gone. I don't think they were ready to fly yet so I'm inclined to think a predator got them. It's so hard for that little cardinal couple to raise babies here. The parents were chasing blue jays all day yesterday so maybe they did something. Poor things.
Here there is also a fairly high failure rate. The floods last week took out four nest with babies in them that I know of.
Also a lot of racoons and snakes coming through here. Luckily the birds keep trying.

Aw, Boo, that's so sad.
The crows often steal babies here.
aw....poor birds. I don't think there is any other creature besides a bird that works so darned hard to raise its young and have such a high failure rate. You have to feel bad for them

Poor little birdie babies. There's so many they that could have taken them.I had baby owl's in my tree again this Spring.Mom flew back and forth everyday feeding them. Then she stopped she just sat in the pine tree next to the nest tree.I think something happened to her babies.I never saw them pop their little head's out of the hole in the tree. Now she don't come back at all.

Aw, Spider
I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm convinced it is the special birds that predators love to munch on. Not that sparrows aren't special
I feed them too but they never seem to deal with the same problems here.
The cardinals never got a break. Constantly chasing things away and the weather hasn't been co-operating here either. I was happy to see their nest intact after the wind storm but there are so many other things for them to deal with.

Nice shot Spider.
Well, I've got good news. It seems the ugly two babies are flying around with the parents. I didn't think they had enough feathers but I guess they left the nest. They were staying higher up in a neighbors tree but now I've seen them coming down with their parents to the feeder.![]()
Great news, Boo! They didn't look like they had enough to me either but maybe we couldn't really see their feathers as we were so interested in their hairdoos. ![]()
LOL someone find pics of baby blue jays and post them, those are my fav birds.
