American Idol Season 9

I wanted to see the video clip it's been removed.Why did AI replaced Golightly ?

American Idol removes everything from youtube because they have copyright and don't want it shared.

Where has Boo been for the last few weeks?  

I haven't been watching, been busy watching the Olympics.  I don't usually watch til they pick the top 24.  So next week they start?

 

 

I can't remember who he was..

    He's the curly haired one they kept showing on the commercials.  He had a good voice, but didn't really have star value that I could see.  It's probably a good move on his part, entering anyway.  He'll probably get more publicity now than if he would have stayed on the show.  He would have quickly been forgotten on the show, I'm sure, but he'll be remembered now.

I see now.  They have him dressed as Orphan Annie on VoteForTheWorst

Right, he had that sad backstory that they went on about, and they dubbed him The Orphan.

Ellen doesn't seem to know what to say to everyone.  It's very hard for her because she doesn't have the music background.  I almost feel sorry for her.

Right, she's more giving her own opinion with her own tastes, like any viewer might. But then she's always said that's what she was going to do.  I think she's just going to be there to boost their egos.  Still better than Paula.

Ok, I just tuned in from the ladies skating to watch Idol.  How can they put Idol and the Olympics on at the same time?    I'll have to catch the beginning on the later feed.  And it's on for the next two days too, isn't it? Same time as skating.  Why couldn't they run it when curling was on?

Problem is she doesn't have anything constructive to say.  She criticized one of them for singing "too hard" and then backed by saying unless that's what you meant to sound like.  At least Paula understood technical elements of music and singing even if she was incoherent most the time.  It seems like Ellen was thinking crap what do I say now?  It's a bit boring to hear her say, I love that song.  I thought it was great.  I think she's going to find it difficult to relax and participate on the show when she doesn't know what she is talking about.

For her first night I think Ellen did OK, not great, but better than listening to Paula ramble on and on. Did any one singer stand out to you? I know its only the first show and everyone usually comes out and does basically karaoke, but no one really impressed me all that much. Hopefully the guys will be better

Guess we'll have to see whether she'll continute like that.  Maybe it was first night nerves.

I didn't see it all, so can't comment on all of them.  And it's always hard the first night because they're all nervous.  Certainly, no one stood out like Adam did.

I like Lilly Scott & Crystal Bowersox.  Both have unique, powerful voices but they don't fit the "perfect package" idol bimbo so I'm not sure how far they will go.

Which one is the Idol bimbo?  The one who was blessed with both good looks and a good voice?   Or did you just mean  Idol bimbo in general?

You mean they have a good voice?  Every season there are females that go through because of their popularity & looks but they aren't necessarily the strongest vocally.  It happens every season.

Yet it doesn't seem to happen with the men.  And there were a lot of great voices that had heavyset girls that weren't let through.  Yet it was okay to let Ruben Studdard through?

Yeah, that double standard is everywhere in show business.  Men are judged for their talent, which is great, but women??  The music industry is notorious for finding the lookers first and then trying to get them to sing.

 

Rare exceptions like Amy Winehouse.  I'm not sure she would have made it here in the States.  I love that she hasn't got that cookie cutter look.

I'm not fond of her voice though. 

Did anyone watch tonight?  I was completely bored.  They have some good singers, but none of them performed to their potential tonight.

I'm sorry but Ellen is awful!  I love Ellen but she should not be on the show.  If anything she makes Kara sound better.

 

I watched it and the guys were pretty disappointing.  I thought the last one was good but the judges seemed to give him the most grief.  Sick of Kara & Casey James.  He looks like a better looking Bucky.

 

I don't know if I'll watch this season..it is a bore.

 

I agree Boo Ellen has no idea what to say or do.She need's replacing.Kara flirting with Casey James is sickening.I watched the whole thing and it's very boring.The guy's are awful there maybe three out of the 12 that barely make ok.I think one of the ladies will win this year.And only a couple of them can sing.After tonight will probally not watch but flip back and forth.Until the end of the show just to see who won.

I don't feel as strongly about Ellen, but I do agree she's a little lost up there.  She says things the general viewer at home would say.  But I'll keep disagreeing about Kara.  I liked her from the start and still do.  She knows music, she's been up on stage (unlike Simon) so I feel she gives good advice and knows what it's like to be up there performing, and she's coherent (unlike Paual).  I don't miss Paula at all.  They actually keep the camera on the contestants now.

The last one, Andy Garcia, was a disappointment to me.  Like the judges mentioned, I expected so much more from him. He was one of the better ones, but only because the others weren't much good. Tim Urban was particularly horrible, but I always thought he was.  I was shocked when he was the one brought back after Golightly was disqualified.  Jermaine Sellers is full of himself. He needs someone to pop that big head of his.  The same could be said for Michael Lynche.   I thought Lee Dewyze was one of the better ones.  My favourite is still Tyler Grady, but I agree that he has to get out of the 70's zone. I'll watch for a few more weeks and hope it gets better as it goes along.

Technically Kara knows her stuff but personality wise she makes me want to vomit.  She is so hung up on herself and her sex starved way she throws herself at everything.  She is really an attention whore and thinks for some reason we should all be admiring her body instead of her professional input.  The bikini thing and her appearances this summer in so many magazines..... she really comes off as a desperate, needy cougar (glad Simon nailed it).  I think I would respect her opinion more if she wasn't so darn needy.  Honestly I find her personality so repulsive.

 

I enjoyed Andy's song and I thought it was great that he did different.  Why can't the judges make up their minds?  They are telling people to do their own thing but don't mess with the song too much.  He sounded great compared to everyone else and he got my votes.   I don't know that I really like him but his voice is good.

 

What was Ellen and wanting to eat that ripe banana?    She must go!!

I didn't get any of that. lol  Not the Kara personality nor Tyler thinking he's good.  Either you have a vivid imagination, or I'm totally clueless.

I agree about the judging.  That has always been a pet peeve of mine.  First they say, change it up, then that they changed it up too much.   I think they just like to hear themselves talk.

Kara reminds me of someone who's self esteem is so low she desperately cries out for attention in the most annoying ways.  Probably just my vivid imagination but if you google "Desperate Kara" her photo sure pops up a lot.

 

Tyler not only thinks he's good but he's god.   I have to remember this is a singing contest..

 

I don't know.  I'll watch it tonight to see who gets the boot but I'm not sure I'll be a regular viewer.  Maybe if Ellen looses up and Kara tightens.

  You leave my Tyler alone.  I think all he meant by that was that he has to stop goofing around.  But these shows are about personality too, and I guess he's realizing it's not only about personality.

Re the Desperate Kara search, search engines pick up on the name, and she's a celebrity so it will pick her up.  You can type in Gorgeous Kara and get the same number of hits.

I liked Lee Dewyze and Casy James, and for the woman I like the chick with the dreadlocks. I thought the whole bit about Kara drooling over him was very annoying too. Was it me or did he almost seem embarassed by it? I didnt get to vote last night because I wasnt home to watch so I watche my DVR recording of it, its pretty sad that I FF through most of the performances. I hope it gets more entertaining as the season progresses. I also hope Ellen improves, I really like her, but maybe not as a judge. She says basicly the same thiing for each contestant, of course so do the other judges. I think the show will suck next year without Simon, he is often a jerk, but he's usually right!

Blue, I can't believe you act like this is the first you've heard about needy Kara.  

 

Jennie, Crystal Bowersox has the dreads and she is one of my favorites too.

 

 

Of course because she might look good for her age but she's creepy old to them.

You know when all the contestants really change?  All their yellow teeth disappear.It's like American Idol says alright you guys made it to the top blah, blah time to bleach the teeth.  Then the new hair and clothes follow.

 

For some of them that wouldn't be bad.  Some of the girls looked like they leaped out of the '80's.

 

Why do I even bother debating with you if you can't recall who said what?   It's ok, looks like you have Sash to kiss up to so I won't push things   I want to say that I think Kara is both smart & attractive but I hate the way she dumbs herself down and is desperate for attention.  She would get more respect if she called attention to herself in other ways besides being the horny cougar.  She's like one of those girls who sleeps their her entire senior class because she wants to be "loved".

Well they sent Ashley and Jenelle home no real loss on either one of them.The girl with the long red and blue hair they brought in as entertainment was'nt much better than the contestants.Did you see Kara's hubby was on the front row.They scanned across him he gave Kara the eye.Then back to her she looked like she sunk down a tiny bit  

Blue they sent your Tyler Grady home and Joe Munoz.Did you see Tyler in his robe and boot's for practice.
They also had Chris Allen back as entertainment and pushing for donation's for Haiti.
