I live in south Texas a zone 8B(though reclassified a zone 9...but my temps still run the same as when was a zone8b)My orange tree dropped some leaves on one side(proably more exposed on this side or wind just blew on this side?)I don't know what kind of orange tree but the fruits are large juicy& sweet had 5 fruits year B4 last 3 last year and has 2 fruits this year, though one is small though turning which is normal. The temp dropped 26 windchill was 19(my temps don't go below 20 normally and don't stay below freezing longer than 6 hours....normally) we we're below freezing for 9 hours& the leafs dropped the following day though when highs we'e in 40s.looks like some leaves have sooty mold, but not all.some leaves left on tree near area where some dropped are curling.the tree is unknown age.I've had it for 9 years its about 23-25 ft tall.
Are my limbs gonna recover& regrow leaves?
should I spray it?My temps will reach above 50s at night sometimes and 70s in the day so its actually 'doable'I can reach the tree top if climb up on purgola and use hose end feeder to spray.i've not sprayed it for 3 years.
Its gotton this cold before but not dropped leves like this and we;ve not been dry dry like this summer but not wetter than normal for right now though it seems to come at 5 inches at a time& it did rain quiet a bit that week but no standing water.
kumquat, satsuma and both lemon trees....they are fine and not effected at all& this tree is older so more seasoned.
Thoughts?
