The chickadees must be spreading the news...I had some nice newcomers this morning
My blue jay count went from the normal 4... to 7
and I finally got a red breasted nuthatch! He was so cute! A little bigger than I expected him to be, he played around on the tree trunk before trying his wing at the feeder. Very sweet
Junco count went from my normal little 1... to 3
Sparrow count is definately higher too .... tree sparrows, vesper sparrows and house sparrows.
Still awaiting the arrival of a cardinal.....

I think they are all here!

They must be migrating or something because I've never seen so many in one spot. They look adorable like red ornaments dotting the snow covered trees. It's starting to snow again so maybe they came in with a storm. Cliff bought fancy seed mix that has fruit, nuts and seeds that are already shelled. I said, are you crazy!? I don't want the birds getting use to this stuff or we'll go broke.

I put it out for the cardinals though when I saw we have so many visiting. Might as well let them have something good before they move on. now watch they won't leave..

Soooo....THAT's how you got them so organized for those kaleidoscope photos! Now we know the secret!

I have a hard time getting them here. I saw one once, a few years ago, it came to my feeders, and then it vanished, never to be seen again. I'm putting so much out there now, trying to attract different kinds....but hey....if you're giving them the unshelled kind.....I just can't compete with that. Looks like I need to go out with my little nutcrackers and start opening seeds now....

I have lots of cardinal here. I love it when they are all sitting up in the snow covered pine trees. I also have lots of bluejays and junco and all of the others you mentioned. My Pileated woodpecker has even been making an apperance!

Nice, Jennie! My little pileated showed up today too. Soooo cute!! MY cowbird is becoming increasingly more trusting, showing up closer and closer and hanging around for longer periods of time.
Today, they all got blueberry suet in their cage... They seem to like it a lot.

Nat, did you make it or is it something you buy? The peanut butter suet has been a big hit. I have to make another batch soon but blueberry sounds interesting.

I had a bunch of cardinals at the feeder today. I had to refill because last night the squrillies got to the feeder and knocked the top off to get to th seeds.
Maybe I should put an address card in there so they can go to Boo's house,
