Another hybrid. You can see the last pitcher that formed (shortly after I received it) in the first picture of this post. It clearly is starting to show some more parental attributes and refined color. I wish I knew more about the form of N. ampullaria used as the mother in this cross since that species is one of the most variable species of Nepenthes.
I can now see more clearly which parent mostly contributed to which feature of the plant.
The peristome is very similar to N. ampullaria.
The pitcher shape is closest to N. ventricosa; however, there is some noticable N. ampullaria in it as well, as N. ampullaria has a very round spherical shape while N. ventricosa is more upright.
The red color can be from either parent (or a nice combination of both) because N. ampullaria has some very vibrant red forms (most notably "Brunei Red" and "Cantley's Red") while N. ventricosa is typically redish.
I hope you enjoy these pictures. This plant will surely be a winner as it matures.
